Her early career experience included Chevron, BBDO Worldwide for Apple, and CPG brand management at Clorox. At Twentieth Century Fox, she led the video businesses with P&L responsibility in France, Spain, and Italy.
As the 17th employee at Yahoo! Inc and head of marketing for six years she is credited with envisioning and building Yahoo’s global brand, leading a team of 200 worldwide for B2C and B2B marketing in 26 countries. She was awarded American Marketing Association Marketer of the Year, BrandWeek Marketer of the Year, American Advertising Federation Hall of Achievement, and other honors.
After Yahoo, she co-founded Common Sense Media as CMO, where her vision for a consumer service, brand and earned-revenue strategies helped CSM become the leading media-guidance platform for families and schools with chapters around the world.
From 2017 to 2020, Karen was CEO of Soap AI, founded on her vision to apply machine learning technologies to give decision makers a clean view of news online while avoiding misinformation. The Soap AI plat-form provided a public news app—Soap Public Media (5013c)— and custom solutions for Fortune Global 100 companies.
